Nearly 80% of all workers and business owners and 70% of all residents in outer London who responded to the public consultation on ULEZ expansion opposed it. Despite this overwhelming opposition, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, has decided to force the ULEZ driving tax on the whole of greater London by August 2023. Sadiq Khan has set aside £400 million of taxpayers money to enforce this tax.
Nick Rogers, our London Assembly Member, has been campaigning on this issue and said:
“Now is not the time to hammer Londoners with a £12.50 daily cost-of-living charge. Residents have made their views very clear to the Mayor: they do not want ULEZ expansion. The Mayor must listen to them, scrap these plans and use the £400 million saved on real measures that tackle air pollution.“
